Since I was a kid, I’ve dreamed of building community and supporting the experiences of marginalized identities. Coming from a Mexican-American family as a queer, non-binary femme, I’ve felt the strain of “isms.” My experiences allow me to identify the root of one's emotional distress and provide tools to manage those emotions. Born and raised in Texas, I see the lack of mental health assistance. I hope to bridge these gaps and build a practice geared toward recovery. As a survivor of complex developmental trauma, it is my passion to walk with others on the same journey of interpersonal and collective healing.
My dream of creating a safe and open space for marginalized folxs began to materialize when I began my own journey. I was embraced by the spoken word community, and through this collective experience, I was able to find my own voice. The continued practice of accepting myself, my talents, and my trauma narrative inspires me to want to do the same for others.
I hold a Master of Science and Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin. Since graduating, I’ve struggled to find a sustainable career where I can assist others and myself in being the most authentic and caring for the whole self. Con Safos, which comes from the Mexican American street art and creative community, means with respect. This tag of C/S is often found on art or writing pieces as a way to protect the piece by stating completion and asking for the respect of not being tagged or painted over. Con Safos Counseling (CSC) emerged as a space to offer low-cost sliding scale therapy and an avenue for emerging therapists to enter the private practice sector with this same lens of seeing beauty in everyone’s journey and respect for wherever a person is in that journey. As an educator, the heart of teaching is integral to the work I do.
My focus now is to affirm others through the lens of decolonizing mental health and removing the power from the therapist for a client-centered approach. Through these modalities in equity and intersectionality, my work is rooted in attachment, brain-based, and evidence-based treatments. My practice equips both my clients and intern therapists with the building blocks to lead a healthy and happy life.
