As a survivor of complex developmental trauma, it is my passion to walk with others on the same journey of interpersonal and collective healing. My marginalized status – biracial, queer, non-binary femme – also allows me to relate to and work with clients who are experiencing strain due to "isms" (e.g., sexism, heterosexism, racism, and classism).
I strive to provide well-paced, whole-person healing through individual and group therapy. Taking the first step to a more authentic and compassionate existence requires great courage. I believe that the truth to wellness is within all of us. Our work together will be rooted in attachment, brain-based, and evidence-based treatments conducted through a lens of equity and intersectionality.
Hey there! My name is D’Vaughn Delpit. I am a licensed master social worker (LMSW) in the state of Texas working under the supervision of Alexis. My focus will be on serving the men within marginalized communities with a focus on trauma informed care to improve quality of life and mental health. Having made it through complex developmental trauma, I’ve taken an interest in walking with others experiencing similar difficulties as they make the trek through self-discovery and healing. Having worked in a variety of different Social Work settings, I’m excited to bring these skills to CSC clients! I look forward to our future encounters and hope to see you soon.
Hi there! My name is Vanessa Fernandez (LMSW), and I am an Associate Therapist with Con Safos Counseling. Originally from Mexico and raised in the bordertown of Hidalgo, Texas, my professional background in education has greatly influenced my journey. Having worked in traditional middle schools and trade schools, the lived experiences of my students have driven my transition into the field of social work. My focus lies in fostering community healing and empowerment, with a vision to create safe spaces where clients can heal from past traumas and feel empowered to advocate for themselves.
Hello! My name is Katherine Schroeder and I am an intern therapist here at Con Safos, working under the supervision of Alexis Shaney. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I am dedicated to supporting the mental health and wellbeing of other folks with marginalized sexual orientations and gender identities. I have significant experience working with children and teens, as well as individuals with multiple disabilities, and I find immense joy in connecting with and supporting people who are living at the intersections of any of these identities. I am currently accepting clients of all ages and identities, and I look forward to working with you!
My name is Amber, and I am a trauma-informed social work intern and full-spectrum doula. I support individuals and families with empathy, advocacy, and care. I hope to hold space for you to feel seen, supported, and empowered.
I support individuals through life transitions, anxiety, stress, family changes, self‑esteem, and women’s issues with compassion and without judgement. I support mothers and birthing people through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. I support the feelings and the new adjustments that come with the journey. I walk beside mothers and birthing people in joy, loss, fear, and in learning how to care for yourself again. This space offers support for you to grow into the place you want to be.
Hello hello! My name is Koury Scavella and I am an intern here at Con Safos! As a biracial person who is also a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I strive to serve those underserved. Understanding that the child and adolescent years are some of the most pivotal times of a persons life, my goal is to assist families and those struggling during those times. I have significant experience varying from the juvenile corrections system to the young adult unit in psychiatric facilities. My goal is to assist any and all people who might intersect with these populations!
Growing up as the daughter of Serbian immigrants in South Houston gave me an early appreciation for cultural identity, gender roles, and how our experiences shape who we become. My interest in advocacy and community engagement, combined with a love of philosophy and psychology, ultimately led me to counseling.
I earned my B.A. in Psychology and Philosophy from Baylor University and am currently completing my M.A. in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness at New York University. My goal is to become a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas.
My work at CSC will combine my interest in intersectionality with my knowledge and passion in digital media. As a woman of color, I've struggled with finding comfort in spaces, especially therapy, but my time as CSC has been filled with warmth and acceptance. I am a recent graduate from the University of Texas at Austin who holds a BA in English and a certificate in Digital Arts & Media. My previous work includes managing social media for an art, culture, and fashion publication and assisting a think tank with its media initiatives.
